Ministry of Magic, Official Report on the O'Kane family
May 13th, 2013 2:05 A.M
Auror in charge: Smith
Location: Glynsk, Ireland, UK
Status: Closed Case
This is the official report from Auror A. Smith.
Arriving on scene after being informed from local wizards in the area, the scene was already compromised. It appears that the Elder of the O'Kane family, Alexander O'Kane had been informed days prior by local wizards in the area of threats from muggle locals, claiming they knew they were practicing what the muggles referred to as 'witchcraft' in the pagan form of the word. Without contacting the Ministry of Magic due to his won person judgments with the organization in the past years (primarily the influences of the new Ministry of Magic, Benjamin Vance). While it was unclear why he did not react out prior to engagement increasing, the end result would believed to be the same regardless.
Wizards and Witches invovled:
Alexander O'Kane, 40 years old. Dragonologist, Half-blood.
Anaya Patil-O'Kane, 33 years old. Magizoologist, Half-Blood.
Gwenth O'Kane, 10 years old, Half-Blood.
Oliver O'Kane, 8 years old, Half-Blood.
After investigation it appears that the family had broken the law of secrecy when a local child had discovered their children playing with their first experiences with magic on the grounds of their home. It was reported that once the local child shared information with the other kids local to the town all became amaze and the O'Kane children were more than happy to share this information with them.
It was the next day that the parents of those local children appeared to the O'Kane family demanding information on their 'witchcraft' and what plans they had done to their children. According to muggles the Ministry have interviewed after the event; "Well yeah, we were all scared. We had no idea what that cursed family were planning to do to our kids. We are just primarily small farmers and just small town people. We don't want that here." Hostility in the area was high and the tension broke through just a few days later on the 13th of May. According to some the Matron of the O'Kane family did their best to calm the locals and assure them that there was no harm from them and that they were all for a integrated muggle and wizarding world. This seemed to send the locals off for a few days until the 13th.
Around 2 AM on May 13th a fire we started at the O'Kane family home. Fire spread all over the house while the family slept. By the time anyone got to the home to help the entire home was in flames. All inside parishes, excluding Oliver the youngest son. The boy apparently had fallen asleep outside that night in his tree house in the oak tree about 200 feet from the house.
Post the arrival of the Aurors on scene, all Muggles post interview were taken to a Obliviator in order to purged all memories of the family from those involved. The two parents and daughter were declared deceased and the sole survivor of the event was sent to live with his grandmother in Galway. The boy chose to not have his memories erased when asked.
All evidence of the house has been removed and threat secured.

Oliver's diary Journal
My grandmother always told me to forget, to move on but it was nearly impossible. I remember when I woke up that night, use it was dawn from all the light but the sight before was not the sunrises I was use to. I remember seeing the fire, hearing the sound of timber burning. I hear no screams, which only made my heart turn inside out more. All it was a blur, but I knew what had happened. I never told the accounts that its my fault.
I was the one practicing magic with my sister, I was the one that excitedly told my friend. I was the one that killed my family, all because I thought muggles could handle magic but I was wrong. Its no longer that we need to hide muggles to keep them safe from those wishing for wizards to rule the world, but rather we must hide from them.
I saw him the day I was taken to my Grandmothers. He stood at his front door watching the car drive and looking on the car sadly. He had no idea what he had caused. What he had done to my family. Had no idea what he did to me. I loathed him for so long, so long, but I could never find it in myself to do anything. It was the past and like grandma said, I needed to move forward and once I went to Hogwarts I felt like I could. I no longer had to be in the muggle world but could be somewhere were I was accepted no matter what. I moved on.
Gryffindor was my new home, my friends my new family. I could move on with their help, though few of them knew and I learned to hide the pain well. Even more so when I discover booze for the first time. That was a way to oblivate the memories, even if just for a bit.
I don't know what to do though now, as my final year at hogwarts comes to a close and I have to make a choice about my future and all I know is that I don't want to go into a world I am not welcomed in.
