with intent to start a fire
You weren't the first or the last in the line of Weasley-Potter clan who were born that same year, but you were certainly the most red-headed of them. You came out with a head of curly red locks that your mother chuckled at upon examining you in the hospital. Rose, a symbol of love and passion. Your name was a beautiful one, certainly, though your father had doubts about it at first. Still, when your parents met you, your name fit you justly and your father went along with it.
A photo of you, Fred, Molly, Domonique, and James was taken that Christmas and is one you hang onto - pinned above your bed at Hogwarts. As you grew up together and other siblings followed, you all took it upon yourselves to be the best older siblings you could be. Yourself, particularly, wanted your brother Hugo to have someone who he could really depend on. You promised you would be that for him, be the friend he could turn to when he felt like he had no one else. After all, having a prominent family name meant you never knew who you could trust - your family were the only people you truly could.
You enjoyed your childhood for the most part; your parents argued quite frequently which was a bit concerning at times, but they always assured you they were just having a disagreement. You often wondered if those disagreements revolved around you and your brother, but you did as you were told and left it alone. You just hoped they didn't split up. You assured Hugo that wouldn't happen, but there were definitely times you wondered if you were wrong. They never failed to give you and your brother the love and attention you deserved, though. It was so important to your mother for you and your brother to be introduced to the wizarding world and education at an early age, which groomed you to be a very intelligent child. Your entire family seemed to love Quidditch, and while you enjoyed riding a broom, the sport itself was never enticing as your father hoped it might be for you.
As you grew older, it became more and more apparent that you were like your mother more than anyone. Your brains were incomparable and it was astounding the amount of knowledge you could absorb at such a young age. You enjoyed learning, especially about magical creatures, so much that your mother even had to force you to go out and play occasionally. You were, however, much more relaxed than your mother. Even though you had to be encouraged sometimes, you enjoyed playing with friends and weren't uptight. You were a lover of life and of nature, and you enjoyed basking in the sun. You and your cousins tented out in your backyard frequently, talking about everything from the awful food Ron tried to make to your futures at Hogwarts. It wasn't long before you became a sweet eleven-year-old kid who was off to Hogwarts with your cousins.
You were sorted into Gryffindor with James and Domonique, which wasn't a surprise to your father. Your mother thought you might be sorted into Ravenclaw, but surely that not being so didn't mean you weren't smart. Quite the contrary, you proved yourself to be one of the most brilliant students in your grade. You got made fun of for it from time to time, but always stuck up for yourself. You were looked up to by many, especially by some of your cousins and your brother who followed you to Hogwarts the following year. Looking back, your defense of them from some of the less-kind crowd set your friendships with them to be even closer.
That was particularly true with your cousin, Albus. For some reason, despite the fact that you were a year apart and in separate houses, the two of you began getting along better than ever once he came to Hogwarts. He seemed to need a lot of help figuring his way through school since he was sorted into Slytherin, but the two of you got him comfortable enough to do well. You and Albus became a great pair were as close, if not closer, than you and Domonique. You enjoyed the time you spent with him and, although it seemed you and James were close, too, you and Albus had a special bond.
You were focused on your education but took the time to make friends outside of your family, as well. You became somewhat of a prominent figure to your friends, always being the one to take up for them while also giving them good advice. Your grades remained so high that you were able to take an extra class in your fourth year. When the time came for it, you were made a Prefect, something that made your mother and father incredibly proud. You took the job seriously and it was absolutely recognized by professors and students alike. Your presence in the school was known in a positive way, which is all you could have hoped for.
In your sixth year, however, something happened that changed you. As you were wandering the castle grounds at night doing your patrol, a second year student was nearly killed by the Whomping Willow. You were able to help the student get out of the situation, but you were severely injured. It took months for you to recover and while you tried to keep up with your studies, ultimately you fell behind. The professors seem to think you may have to do an additional year in school to catch up with everything, but the fact of being injured so horribly weighed on your mind more than the fact of missing classes.
You were elected Head Girl for your seventh year, an accomplishment that your mother continues to brag about. Although you have to do your seventh year classes as well as those you failed to finish last year, you're confident you can get it all done and not have to complete an extra year. You've still got a lot to learn and to decide about your future, which has your mind all sorts of messed up. You're unsure of what you want to do in the future and have been specializing in different things so you can choose whatever path you'd like when you're done at Hogwarts, but the choice has to be made sooner rather than later. The future remains unseen for you, but you're hopeful that it is a bright one.
