Lisa relished any opportunity to spend an evening networking - it made her feel a number of emotions ranging from dazzling to murderous and she welcomed every single one of them. There was just something about trying to woo a ballroom full of people that put her truly in her element.
This evening in particular had been spent mostly with a possible client for a new creative angle. A lot of things they could do in house but she was keen to out source the next marketing shoots. She had complete faith in her own team but doing everything yourselves could easily make you a bit to precious - whereas if someone else was providing the raw content and her guys where just playing with? Well, in her experience that just led to a much better end result.
Val trusted her to make a decision, but she was aware he might appear further down the line to ask some questions of his own. The guy she was talking to right now was impressing her though. She'd heard of his studio, Lightening Beam, before. They were actually one of the rare companies managing to walk the line between the both muggle and wizarding companies and that was an element to their work she really enjoyed. They would use any photography method to get the desired shot and didn't insist on only going the magic route like the last studio she'd been in contact with. Plus, they had quiv experience - everything that they were looking at tonight came from them to market the status update platform, Hoot.
And tonight was definitely all about Hoot. It was one of the platforms Lisa enjoyed the most on her Quivlet. She wasn't one for updating her status much, but she used it to keep up with what was going on in the world - and to see what Cyrus was posting for the Hextra account. Come to think of it, she wasn't sure they'd ever actual told Val who was running it, but Cyrus had definitely been the perfect candidate to do so. He was enthusiastic about it too, and she enjoyed helping her team create the content he briefed into them to post. Their weekly 'Meme Meetings', as he called them, were one of her absolute favourites within her main schedule. They were always... well, they were always a hoot.
Excusing herself from Lightening Beam, Lisa turned to survey the room around her. There didn't seem to be anything overly dramatic going on at present, but really the night was still young and there was still plenty of time for some high end pretentious asshole to make a fool of themselves.
Not sure who's company to seek next, she took a turn around the room - taking the long way to the bar for a fresh glass of champagne. She could choose prosecco but it becoming a popular tipple over recent years had upped the price of it to close enough to champagne that it just wasn't worth it - and even if it was an open bar she couldn't let herself ask for it purely on principle. There were just much nicer and more reasonable sparkling wine options available.
There were eyes on her as she walked and Lisa knew it. She'd chosen this particular dress because the high neckline and flowing skirt made it seem almost conservative from the front, and then she turned around to expose her completely bare back and could just feel the stares of drooling middle aged men looking for fun outside of their marriages follow her as she walked. It was part of the fun of these, casually flirting to make it seem like someone had a chance to take her home and then suddenly dropping them when a better offer appeared (and by better offer she was mostly referring to the call of her own bed. Mostly.)
Once she had almost completed a circuit of the room she settled herself next to an old friend from her Hogwarts days. She honestly wasn't sure what Cassandra did now - it was certainly nothing to actually do with the wizarding worlds new technologies, but she was making a lot of money and seemingly throwing it at anything and everything. Lisa had seen her and her husband at every event she'd attended over the last 18 months.
This is where she was when Val approached after finally finishing his rounds, and he timed it perfectly as she finished the last drop in her glass, "Definitely, yes," excusing herself from Cassandra she turned to give him her full attention, "Honestly I haven't seen him since before I start speaking to the CEO from Lightening Beam - I like their offer, by the way, expect a contract to sign from them within the week."
