Miss Weasley, or should I say Mrs. Lupo, welcome back to Europe.
The blonde held back her sigh. Her posture remained calm and relaxed. She intertwined her fingers together. “It’s Weasley. We never got to the marriage part.” She tried to keep her voice from shaking. Why was it so hard to be back home? To talk about anything that had happened over the last few years.
“Is that why you’re back?” The man interviewing her peered over his glasses. That time, Victoire did release a sigh from her red lips and ruffled her bangs up a bit, her classic nervous habit. “Miss Weasley, we are going to have to talk,” he paused, “About everything. It’s part of your assessment to return to the Ministry, do you understand.” The blonde gave a nod and placed her hands back together. “Let’s start with the beginning. State you name, age, current living situation and family.”
Victoire tried to relax, but at this moment, her future was on a thin line. “Victoire Alouette Weasley and I feel much older than twenty two. My immediate family consists of Bill and Fleur nee Delacour, Weasley and Dominique and Louis Weasley, both are still students at Hogwarts. My current residence is with my parents for now.”
The man nodded and took down so notes. Her educated guess was that he was taking notes on not just what she was saying, but what she was doing. She didn’t want to be completely rigid, but she didn’t trust herself to relax completely. He scratched a bit more at his paper, before nodding. “Alright and your childhood. What was it like? Before Hogwarts.”
“My family was decently well off.” She shrugged one shoulder. “We weren’t told no a lot, but we were taught to not take what we have for granted. We were discipline when needed but in all honesty, we hardly saw much punishment. We were good eggs. Despite being the eldest, Dominique was the attention grabber, which was a godsent. I’m not exactly the golden child. I liked books and quidditch. But I wasn’t driven like Dominique was. I floated by and just you know, be a kid. Get dirty, find fears, conquer fears. Figure things out the hard way, cause we all know I love making mistakes and taking chances.” Victoire paused and looked at her fingers, no jewelry laced them. “I got along amazing well with my siblings and cousins. Mostly on my mom’s side. But some on my father’s side. Like Teddy Lupin. He was my best friend growing up. We were the eldest and always together.”
There was a moment of silence while the man wrote. Victoire tried to be a patient as possible, control her breathing and nerves. “Talk about Hogwarts.” Victoire nodded. “I was sorted into Slytherin. I guess I had ambition and was cunning. But those traits weren’t view right away.” Victoire’s true colors didn’t show until later in her education. “I had a knack for wand work and quidditch.” She tried to be casual, “I was quite popular at Hogwarts. I got along with most students. I liked to talk and smile. I didn’t exactly have a care in the world. I’d graduate with good marks and most likely join my father in Gringots.” She tried not to glance around too much.
“In my second year, I joined the quidditch team. I wasn’t a seeker, but I was a chaser. Things were actually going really well. I loved being at Hogwarts.” The man peered at Victoire and nodded. Victoire sighed and pushed her hair out of her face. “And then Teddy broke my heart and I shut down as a human being. My grades soared, my relationships fell. I had more temper than before and quidditch wasn’t helping. I said no to quidditch captain and just focused on my NEWTS. I didn't tell anyone about what he did. I just mentioned it didn't work out they way we wanted it to. We mutually ended it. I didn't want him maybe lose his family.” She shrugged and finally turned her head and looked out the window.
“What happened after Hogwarts? Did you join Gringotts?”
Victoire tried not to roll her eyes. “I didn’t. I was recruited by someone from the Ministry for my marks and wand work. I joined the Auror training for about a year when I saw Teddy and left the training for the Hit Witch program. I lasted six months before I left to Australia. It sounded like the best idea. I was transferred to their training program and was a Hit Witch by the age of twenty, working their cases.”
“And Daniel?” Victoire took a deep breath, her frame shaking a bit. “He was a freelance curse breaker I met a few months in. He was sweet. We lived together by the end of the year. He had a good thing going.” She nodded. “We both were focused on work. It worked really well. We had ambition and supported each other in it. He went missing on a trip a year ago, after he proposed. I spent six months searching for him in South America when I found out I pregnant. Honestly, I didn’t know what was happening with my life anymore. One thing led to another that seemed amazing, and then ripped for me.” Victoire controlled her breathing and focused more and more on her heart rate and adrenaline.
“Why did you come back?” The blonde didn’t want to talk anymore, but she wanted to be back at the Ministry, she needed a job. “I was hit by a spell in the stomach.” She couldn’t help the sadness in her voice. “I wasn't in the field, but found my way in a duel. I was trying to protect some civilians. It was an instinct. I didn’t have time to think about my pregnancy.” Victoire wanted to hold her stomach but resisted. “Their government thought it would be wise to send me back home.”
“Do you consider yourself unstable.” Victoire raised her eyebrows at the man and shook her head. “You have nothing to live for?”
“There’s family.” She said simply. The man nodded and went back to writing. “What we’ll be doing for you Miss Weasley.” He began not looking at her, “You’ll be on probation until further notice. You won’t be placed in the field anytime soon. Instead, you’ll be training incoming Aurors and Hit Wizards.” Victoire flexed her hand a bit. She wasn’t happy about the situation but it wasn’t one she could complain with. It was a start. “Thank you.” She finally said before she stood and left the room.
