THE HOGWARTS QUIDDITCH TEAMS
the hufflepuff team
max liberty newman
fc: florence pugh
hufflepuff. 7th year. 17. captain & keeper.
Max has only ever cared about one thing her whole life, and that's Quidditch. Keeper for the Hufflepuff team, and Captain since her Fifth Year, most of her waking hours are spent dedicated to thoughts about brooms, passes and how their chaser formation last practice was too sloppy for her liking. As a lifelong supporter of the Holyhead Harpies, she began to loathe how male dominated her beloved sport was outside of her favourite team and was determined to address this situation as soon as she had the power to. Strong-willed, blunt and hyper-focussed, there's no doubt to anyone that she's going to go pro one day. She was in a long-term relationship with Toby Hugo until the end of their Fifth Year which ended quite dramatically, but they've somehow found a way back to being comfortable friends.
aoife karen dawlish
fc: eliza scanlen
hufflepuff. 7th year. 18. chaser.
Best friends with Max since their first night in the Hufflepuff dorm, it seemed like the logical step for Aoife to try out for the Quidditch team too - if nothing else, to make sure Max didn't overwork herself into an early grave. When Max became Captain in Fifth Year, she'd lost so many chasers thanks to the graduating class that it felt like a favour to sign up more than anything, but who knew that she'd actually come to love it? Friendly and warm-hearted, Aoife tends to be the buffer between Max's worst moods and the rest of the team, but equally rallies them all to support Max in return. Max might be the team's undeniable leader, but Aoife is the team's heart.
gwen carys bevan
fc: pearl mackie
hufflepuff. 6th year. 17. chaser.
Gwen tends to be quieter and more stern than most people expect Hufflepuffs to be. She, much like Max, can be blunt when she speaks, has no time for bullshit, and has an endless passion for the game - but generally Gwen keeps her thoughts to herself unless she feels it necessary to voice them. She's a foot soldier, and happy to follow orders for them to win, and respects the hell out of Max's captaincy. The difference is she feels like she has to be realistic about her own ambitions - she's a muggleborn from a small mining town in Wales, with none of the money, expectations or privilege that Max has. Sure, it would be nice to think she could be a professional Quidditch player, but Gwen isn't afraid of facing facts. She's sure she'll find some kind of happiness in whatever Ministry desk job she does end up in.
caroline joyce acklerley
fc: freya allan
hufflepuff. 5th year. 15. seeker.
Caroline has a reputation for being incredibly sweet, well-meaning and harmless - as such no-one thought she'd be the natural choice for the rough and tumble of the Quidditch pitch, let alone under the steely-eyed captaincy of Max. And yet, when she got on her broom there was no-one even close to touching the speed she managed in try outs, and she surprised everyone when she bagged Seeker. Truthfully, she was the perfect choice - she's a little naive and not the team's brightest strategist, but she's malleable and does as she's told. She goes when Max tells her to go, and when she does go she's fast.
hattie victoria davies
fc: halle bailey
hufflepuff. 4th year. 14. beater.
One of the four infamous Hogwarts Hatties, Hattie Davies tried out purely to be as close to Christian Fraser as possible. It somehow worked - her and one of her best friends, Hattie, managed to be bumped up from reserves to Beaters and are now playing their first year of being actual members of the Hufflepuff Squad. Known as Davies to the team, she's been more of an asset than anyone had initially thought she would be when she first signed up. She's got a simmering rage, a deep and meaningful connection with her fellow Beater, and a pathological obsession with Christian that means no bludger in a 100 mile radius will be getting close to him. Never has a chaser been more well protected thanks to this Beater duo.
hattie hermione ollerton
fc: lana condor
hufflepuff. 4th year. 14. beater.
One of the four infamous Hogwarts Hatties, Hattie Ollerton tried out purely to be as close to Christian Fraser as possible. It somehow worked - her and one of her best friends, Hattie, managed to be bumped up from reserves to Beaters and are now playing their first year of being actual members of the Hufflepuff Squad. Known as Ollie to the team, she's been more of an asset than anyone had initially thought she would be when she first signed up. She's got Quidditch in her blood, a deep and meaningful connection with her fellow Beater, and a pathological obsession with Christian that means no bludger in a 100 mile radius will be getting close to him. Never has a chaser been more well protected thanks to this Beater duo.
the gryffindor team
noah archibald ballantine
fc: josh o'connor
gryffindor. 7th year. 18. chaser
The eldest son of the newest generation of the Ballantine family, Noah is set to inherit the family firewhisky business that been around for almost 200 years. There could be worse things, he supposes, than having access to that sort of power and money. And it's not like it's going to be a difficult job to hold down - he's never really going to have a problem selling firewhisky, is he? So he's content as is, and it's made him popular enough in school too: hard to have a party without either Kirke or Ballantine present. That isn't to say he's a big, bold personality though - Noah tends to edge on the quiet side, and happy to fly under the radar of his more talkative friends, laidback and easy-to-please. Though be careful, because when you do get him talking he tends to swear like a sailor: anyone under fourth year be warned.
christina leigh ross
fc: brianne tju
gryffindor. 5th year. 16. chaser
Tina Ross really thought that being part of the Gryffindor quidditch team would be fun. It always seemed that way, from the outside looking in, and when she finally got her shot after one of the chasers graduated she was ready to come back to school and get stuck in. That was, until all the drama started. Tina likes to keep it lowkey, and being dropped right in the middle of a Quidditch team trying to fix itself after their captain dramatically leaves? Not really her scene. At this point she's hoping to just ride out the rest of the year under the radar until half the team graduates, along with all their drama, and they can really start enjoying themselves again - because really what's the point in Quidditch (or life?) if you can't have some fun along the way?
trent alexander miller
fc: noah centineo
gryffindor. 5th year. 15. beater
When he arrived at Hogwarts, a transfer student from Australia at the beginning of his fourth year, Trent went from being the biggest shrimp on the barbie to the smallest pea on the plate. It's taken him just over a year to salvage any hope of a reputation, especially with the rest of Gryffindor being as they are - the boy has loads of charisma but is too young to know what to do with it yet. He managed to snag reserve on the Quidditch team at the tail end of his first year, but now he's had the upgrade to Beater (thanks Potter!) and has an almost puppy-like enthusiasm to prove his worth. Maybe that enthusiasm is what the Gryffindor Team needs to win the cup (or even just a game).
the ravenclaw team
polly josephine copeland
fc: anya taylor joy
ravenclaw. 5th year. 16. chaser.
Polly Copeland likes to do well. She's not on the team for the sport - good Merlin, no, - but extra-curriculars like Quidditch look good on job applications. She can use this to show she's dedicated, a team player, good at balancing work and play, et cetera, and she wants to be able to stand out when the time comes. It also helps that her boyfriend loves Quidditch. It's cute, she thinks - and that's what people do when they're a couple, they do things together. And what's cuter to the Hogwarts populace than a chasing duo that are also in love? Polly quite likes the idea of her and Jeremy having a thing for them to do together that everyone can see, and if that's Quidditch, well then it works well enough for her. She might have had to teach herself a whole lot of things very quickly, but she didn't mind. There's no such thing as knowing too much, and you really ought to show you care about your boyfriend's interests, right?
jennifer sakura saito
fc: nichole bloom
ravenclaw. 6th year. 17. chaser.
Jennifer Saito thinks it's a real shame that there's not more physical education at this school. As it is she reckons the only people she ever sees on her runs with the same idea is Linus Longbottom, and for a place with that many people in it, that lack of exercise options at Hogwarts seems alarming. Quidditch isn't her favourite form of exercise, but at this point she'll take it, because here is a health and wellbeing enthusiast. She's been trying to get the team on Yoga for a while now because she's sure it's helped her broom balance exponentially, but she also reckons it would help mellow the team out a bit. They can be an intense group, at times, and as much as Jenny respects striving for excellence, what's the problem with a bit of mindfulness in the mix too? She's managed to convince Zelda to come running with her at least, so she's not been so unsuccessful, but she just thinks it would help them all so much - their lives can all be changed so positively by bringing their minds, bodies and souls all into alignment. Isn't that neat?
jeremy aaron brown
fc: colin ford
ravenclaw. 5th year. 16. chaser.
Bro, did you see that score Campbell managed at the last Magpies game? Well, Jeremy certainly did, and he's likely to talk to you about it even if you're not really too interested. He's harmless enough, but altogether a little too focussed on what he's interested in talking about than what you really think about it. His dad's been taking him to Montrose Magpies games since he was a kid and he loves the game, which is clear enough for anyone to see. He'd have been happy being a commentator, but somehow he managed to get himself onto the team and he gets to chase just like his heroes. Being this sports-focussed, he's all about any strategy his Captain might throw his way, and he's more likely to be sat thinking about the Quidditch League tables than his Potions homework, but he doesn't much mind about that. And his totally fit gf Polly gets to be on the team too - how sweet is that, dude?
zelda elizabeth weissman
fc: margaret qualley
ravenclaw. 7th year. 18. seeker.
The first thing you need to know is that Zelda doesn't really tend to do...people. They can be quite loud, and annoying, and filled to the brim with terrible opinions, which is really what's so surprising about the second thing you should know about Zelda: she has a massive, whopping crush on Jenny Saito. She hates it, because she is so....you know. And Zelda is so...not? You know? Jenny likes to go do stuff and see people and Zelda would much prefer to not do either of those things, thank you. Except apparently now she goes on morning runs with her just because Jenny asked her with a very nice smile and she has dimples so what exactly was she supposed to do? Zelda is in crisis (very internally, obviously, because no-one needs to know about this) because she was very happy keeping to herself and laughing cynically at the world until this girl came out of nowhere and started making her want to be like, a better person? Maybe? All she's been able to conclude so far is that crushes that make you question your own sense of self are by far the worst of all.
