The newest batch of Hogwarts students have entered this historic school and no one knows how their future will turn out - will you be a quidditch pro or maybe a prefect? The year is now 2021, and now it's time for the next generation to make their mark. The newest batch of Hogwarts students have entered this historic school and no one knows how their future will turn out - and that is where the fun begins.
The plot will be determined by the characters of the site as of now - future plots will change as these forces weigh in on the Wizarding World, and we see where these characters take us. So join in and let your character make their mark!
Minimum word count is 200.
Well it’s been a really successful first month here at Hell Hath No Fury - we already have so many wonderful characters and plots on the site so early on, and it makes all of us on the staff really excited about the future of the site. We can’t wait to see what plots the next few months and beyond will hold for us!
As is natural, because we’re new and finding our feet there are lots of things to cover in this first update. We’re going to be constantly changing and adapting to try to find the best ways to RP/improve all of your experiences to make this as fun and creative a time as possible. Please bear with us if it seems a lot - but we’re trying a lot of things out and seeing what works and what doesn’t in our first few months. As always, feedback is always welcome and encouraged, as we want to know that you’re all enjoying yourselves first and foremost!
Sorry this is going to be very long, but it’s all in the name of being as transparent as possible with you all - and we do have a few very exciting new site additions along with some smaller updates to cover, so keep on reading!
1) Canon List
Boring things first, but you may have noticed if you’ve been around for long enough that we updated the code and families on our Canon List. It was a bit of an extensive overhaul, and as you’ll probably be able to see, it’s still kind of in progress. We’re working through finishing the finer details, but if you see any glaring mistakes, don’t be afraid to let us know so we can change it.
Regarding the Canon List, we’d also just like you to know that we are a pretty flexible site when it comes to our canons. So long as what you’re asking for doesn’t mess with any of our current characters or their plots, we’re pretty much willing to tweak the list as necessary for you - so don’t be afraid to approach us if you have ideas that would mean changes to the canon list! We try not to make these changes drastic, but if you want a few ages/houses/family sizes tweaked, we’re more than happy to try and accommodate for you.
TLDR: if you see stuff that needs changing on the list, don’t be afraid to PM us about it!
2) Flex Accounts
Now onto the new exciting things - this month we’re going to start rolling out the concept of Flex Accounts. Here at Hell Hath No Fury we’re all about cultivating our community, and we’re hoping that this concept will be a step forward in that. Us on the staff obviously have our own personal accounts separate to our character accounts that help identify us to you, as well as being used to keep the site organised - and we thought it would be nice if our members had their own personal accounts too.
We came to this decision for a few reasons. Firstly, to create connections to the people behind the characters. So often as sites grow it gets harder to get to know everyone behind all the characters - especially if you have multiple characters - and we don’t want to lose having personal touches with you all as we grow. We thought it would be nice to give you all the opportunity to do things like give your account a personal flair just like we did with our staff ones. We want to get to know you as well as the characters you create.
Secondly, practicality - these accounts will make it much easier to contact you when we’re trying to send you PMs, rather than having to send it to one of your character accounts.
Thirdly, we want to give you the opportunity to expand your creative outlets. The concept of the Flex Account is to allow for free, creative and uninhibited writing. We’re opening a space for you - The Sandbox - to use your accounts to workshop potential characters, for you to write vignettes or short stories about your characters, or even role-play one-time characters you don’t have time/enough plots to commit a full character account to - to have threads set in the future or the past - whether they be canon to the site or an alternate universe. There's going to be lots of fun things happening in The Sandbox, including writing challenges, so keep an eye out for those!
What we want is a safe community for you to be as creative as you want, even if that doesn’t even mean with Harry Potter. We’ve opened the Writing Hub in the OOC board as well, where you can have your own writing sub-boards to share your other creative work with our supportive community of writers. The aim of this is to give you all as much room to be creative as possible in a nurturing environment.
For now, we’ve decided that you’re automatically allowed to create a Flex Account if you have more than one character. Just create the account, and fill out the form here for us to approve you.
However, if you’re a dedicated member with just the one character and no plans for anymore, we certainly won’t be discriminating just based on character numbers. PM any of the staff to discuss making a Flex Account and we’re sure we’d be able to figure something out.
The full details of how the Flex Accounts will work are also going to be detailed in the Site Rules, but for now we’d definitely refer to them more as guidelines than rules - there could be a lot of changes going on with these guidelines depending on how they pan out, but the basic ones that we’ve set out initially will be important to read to get you started.
Again, how this all goes really depends on your feedback, so things very well may change depending on how successful this is - so keep us informed about what you think!
We’re hope you’re as excited as we are about rolling out the Flex Accounts!
3) Quivlets
This is the second new exciting thing we have to announce. You may have noticed the creation of the character Valentino M. T. Rosier- Rowle - he's an entrepreneur, and inventor of the wonderful Quivlet.
Information about the Quivlet, it's inception, and the history of the company will soon be found in our Wizarding World Info board, but for our purposes it's going to work as mobile phones for our characters - meaning shorter, private instant messaging threads - as well as places to create social media like profiles on the Wizarding World Network (or, the WWN).
These 'hexting' threads are like normal threads in that they are in-character posts and should be considered as contributing to the canon of the site. We're hoping that this will speed along some plots as it means less lengthy threading of things that can more easily be 'hexted' between characters.
The Quivlet board can be found in the section 'The Realm', where you can now also find boards for the Past and the Future, should you decide to thread your characters in a different time!
Happy Hexting!
We're honestly impressed that you've made it this far down the update, but we hope the read has been worth it - it's all in the hope that there are exciting times ahead. There'll be an activity check coming up soon so let's get posting!
Thank you all for being so enthusiastic and sharing your creativity with us - it's already a very rewarding site to be a part of.
