POSITIVE
- Caring: Al cares a lot, just generally about everyone. He wants to make sure people are okay and taken care of without even thinking of himself in the process - Determined: Once its on his mind, its going to happen plain and simple. He adopted both the Potter and Weasley stubbornness to his personality and it shows nearly constantly. - Curious: Al would leave no puzzle unsolved. He doesn't like to be in the dark about information and is always hesitant to share what he knows with others that he doesn't yet trust - Hopeful: Al has seen and heard some shit. That doesn't mean he won't stop trying. He may get down on himself and situations but he never looses hope in a outcome and is determined to see it through whether rain or shine.
LIKES
- Mysteries - His mother - Gardening - Therapy
DISLIKES
- His Name - Being a 'Potter' - Gossip papers - COMC
NEGATIVE
- Emotional: This poor potter wears his emotions on the outside of his skin and 24/7. It is easy to tell how he is feeling, what he is thinking and what he is about to do because it is written all over his face. - Reluctant: Hesitation is a problem of his. He lacks confidence in himself and his choices and never trust his gut even when its right. Many exam's have tanked due to his own lack of trust in himself. - Curious: Curiosity killed the cat. In this case his inability to leave something alone is known to get himself in a lot of trouble every now and then and puts him into sometimes dangerous situations. - Unmotivated: Al is floating through life right now with no care in the world. He has no idea what he is looking for in life nor what he wants to do. He just kinda takes life as it is and doesn't try to fight back or push any boundaries.
Being a middle child meant very little to the potter family. There was no middle child syndrome simple because was impossible with how big their family was. Nearly everyone was a middle just because of the sheer size if them. Not that Albus minded, he enjoyed the big family as a child. He longed for a closeness that he had a hard to be realizing he lacked with this own family.
Harry and Ginny were good parents, but that doesn’t mean much in the wizarding world. His father worked a lot, long hours in work and even at home. Ginny was warm and stubborn, full of light to the family. His aunts and uncles, his cousins, he was surrounded by love and stories of the world that had been their coming. He was told the story of his name over and over again by the time he was seven. It was unsettling to him. He hated his name by the age he was seven. James was named after their grandfather and their grand-god father(was that a word, he didn't know but he was gonna use it). Lily was named after their grandmother and a close friend. He, he was named after Albus Dumbledore. A man of great honor; a headmaster, a legend and a true father to his dad. Then there was Severus Snape. The man who killed the latter. It felt like that oxymoron was his life. He was child of both life and death, and it disturbed the young child to no end. His father may praise them both but it still ate at his skin when his named was called by his mother for not doing chores or for running through the house again. He told everyone to call him Al and that was that.
Once I was 14 years old
No one said school was going to be welcoming or warm. While his brother had already been there for a year, he chose not to sit by him on the train, rather to keep to himself than be around his louder older brother and his equally as loud friends. The solitude had been filled with his own thoughts and observations. He saw the looks he got. The whispers and giggles, the five foot barrier that others kept around him. He was in his own personal show cage. A glass figure the world was told not to get close to. The new Potter kid. A star and a martyr all at once. The ceremony was the worst.
Hearing his full name called echoed off the walls like a long lost memory of the two headmasters of Hogwarts. He hadn't looked at the Headmistress, scared to see her expression. Same reason he didn't look at the crowd as she stood up on the stool. He knew what he expected. What his brother and cousins expects. what the world expected. The hate stalled for 3 minutes, the longest that year, with the tension of silence only filled with the voice of the hat in his head, telling him of all the things in him. His fathers will, his mothers strength, his name sake bond to the boys name. With all his soul being tour apart in his mind he was surprise he didn't cry before it finally called out his house. The world seemed still for hours, but it was only seconds. He was rushed over to the table, the quiet unsettling as a few of his housemates clapped, others looked in horror and shock. Albus Severus Potter, he was a Slytherin.
The welcome was only partially warm but his parents seemed to understand. The first letter he sent he had been terrified but they approve of his strength, his dad owning up that the hat had wanted him in Slytherin as well. Friends were easy to make though and for those first three years were some of the best. He enjoyed class, spending some time with his cousins and friends. He didn't play quidditch or do any real extracurricular but he enjoyed to walk the halls. Went to his brothers matches. It was all fine until it wasn't.
May 2nd 2018 will forever be known to the next generation of wizards and witches. A day were everyone mourned and cried, people looked in horror and Hogwarts was virtually shut down. The accident was the worst in wizarding history. A man who survived it all dying to a accident on a broom, something that couldn't be avoided. The horror. The sadness. The collective mourning over the world. At least, as the papers had it. However Skeeter was never good at portraying his father in a realistic light.
Albus remembers watching his dad. His long nights flipping through books he kept under lock and key, old papers from the war. He never told them about how the vent in his room connected to their bedroom. How he heard the nights and the hush whispers and crying. The way the months before his fathers letters got shorter and his eyes more glazed over. The Potter siblings saw the break in him long before the world could even guess there was something wrong with their perfect family. Of course it was never perfect. Whatever wedge laid between the siblings only forced itself deeper after his death, something that Albus wished and wished he had done something to stop however he didn't. They all went their own ways, its not that they didn't care though. It was, hard. Hard to be around each other without him. At least for Albus. Once again he was in that glass box, everyone scared to speak too loudly or look at him the wrong way. As if he would erupt if they did. Maybe they were right, but eruption was never a choice for him. He had to move on, or so he was told.
That year the kids solo focus was their mother. It had been awkward and rough, like they were all new people who had never met before. It killed albus, but he could only do so much for his siblings. They all needed to cope on their own. He hadn't even thought about gifts that year, but his mother still managed for them. A Indiana Jones box set with costume and everything. It was perfect, he spent all break watching the movies 3 times.
Once I was 16 years old
The last years have somehow gone by with little happenings. No matter how much he hoped his family never seemed to reconnect like he hoped for, so he found his emotional comforts else where. Whether through friends or extended family, Albus craves affirmation and reassurance in his life. Craves love and affection. Anything to help him cope from one moment to the next. While he is certainly not over the death of his father he takes every day one at a time. Its all that can be expected.
