Tay-Tay stuttered to a stop midway through the incantation and slowly lowered her wand. She turned to Baggy and stared at him for what felt like a decade. She knew she wore a confused look on her face but she couldn’t wipe it away. She didn’t understand what was going on. The discussion had taken an unexpected turn.
“It’s no hard to understand, Baggy,” Tay said, exasperated and rather louder than she wanted to. She ducked her head in case anyone looked around to see who was talking when they were meant to be practising the transfiguration spell. She hadn’t meant to interrupt the class. She got enough detentions for forgetting to complete her homework as it was.
Lowering her voice slightly, enough not to draw the attention of the others, she continued. “I dinnae know how ye can like it. It’s no nice.” She pulled a disgusted face. A shiver ran down her back at just the thought of it. She took a deep breath to try and quell the bile rising in the back of her throat. She would not throw up in class again. She would not. She couldn’t relive the nightmare of fourth year.
It took a moment, and more than a few forceful swallows, but the threat of seeing her breakfast again slowly receded. She thanked Merlin she’d been saved the embarrassment. She shook her head and pushed the thought of it from her mind, and raised her wand once more to practise the incantation.
